Modern Applied Statistics with S-PLUS: The de facto "bible" of statistical analysis with S-PLUS. This book by Venables and Ripley provides examples of the many types of analysis you can do with S-PLUS, and the book's website provides on-line complements with examples and information for the latest versions of S-PLUS. Brian Ripley also generously provides Windows ports for a number of third-party packages.
